You must have Facebook friends that literally spam your news feed with annoying posts, photos, like and share. Don't you hate seeing it, why not keep that person as a contact but block the images and posts from that person to show up on your Facebook wall as or news feed?

How to hide Friends list on Facebook from others?

Many users have mentioned that they want a way to hide their list of friends. In response to their feedback, Facebook has removed the "View Friends" link from search results, making your Friend List less visible on the site.

In addition, you can further limit the visibility of your Friend List to other people on Facebook if you want. Here are the steps that will guide you through:

1. Click on the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the "Friends" box on your profile.

2. You will have three options to adjust under Friends and Family: Relationship status, Family and Friends. Click on the drop down menu to the right of Friends option.

3. Select "Only Me" This will prevent your Friend List from appearing in your profile.

Remember, you can also limit who can find you in searches on Facebook and control whether your information can be indexed by public search engines under "Search" on the Privacy Settings page.

View private Facebook profile

Why would you want to view someone's private Facebook profile? I'm not going to argue the "ethics" of this... I'm going to answer the question straight, and let everyone else argue whether it's right or wrong. I am not even going to refer to some hacks and cracks that doesn't work instead lets use some psychological principles.

OPTION 1 (Limited access to Private Facebook Profile)
Whenever you click on a person’s name there will be three options available: Add as Friend, Send a Message, and View Friends.

1. Click on Send a Message to message to the person whose profile you are interested in..
2. Send them a message saying “Hey, this is .... and I met you ...(somewhere the person might visit often, like college classes)...”
3. They might send you back a message either positive or negative.
4. No matter what they say you will now have access to their limited profile as soon as the message is sent without adding them as a friend.

OPTION 2 (Full access to Private Facebook Profile)
This alternative takes longer but this will get you into somebody’s full Facebook profile. The concept is basically to set up a profile in which the person thinks you are actually someone that they already know.

1. View your victims friends list. Find one of their friends that does not have a Facebook default profile picture. This will most likely be a person that does not use Facebook very often.
2. Create a new Facebook account with the exact same name or something similar that will confuse the user as the profile that does not have a default profile picture.
3. Once you have created that new account, go and add about 20 of his/her friends. Since they will most likely be mutual friends with both of you, they will most likely add you.
4. Now that you have an account of his/her known friend and about 20 mutual friends. Send a friend request or a message and tell him or her that this is your new facebook account. There will be no reason for him/her to not believe you and he/she will add you.
5. Now, you have complete access to their profile on Facebook.

Hide/Remove Offline Contacts on Facebook CHAT!!

The new vertical chat bar of Facebook lists both your online friends and offline friends all in one list, with no option to hide your offline buddies. I’m certain Facebook will do something about this in the future but for now we can hide offline contacts by using Chrome and Firefox extension, which removes offline friends from the list.

For Users: Click here to Install the extension.
1. Click Install

2. Click Continue on Chrome Task bar Notification.

3. When prompted Click Install. Shortly you will be notified that the Extension has been Installed

After the Extension as been installed, go to Facebook, on the Chat Settings - Select hide Offline Friends

Thats it!!!

To remove the extension from Chrome go to Settings (Wrench in upper right corner) - Tools - Extensions

Facebook's Smart Lists : Status updates visible only to your Close friends!

This week Facebook brought new feature designed to make it easier to share posts with small groups of people by separating your best friends from your so called friends. Creating custom lists of Facebook friends was available since a long time, but now Facebook will automatically create a few lists based on your profile information. You can edit these lists and create new ones yourself. Facebook calls it a Smart List.

To see if you’ve got the smart lists yet, look on the left side of your Facebook profile page. You should see a section titled Lists:

When you look at a friend’s profile, there’ll be a button at the upper right that pops up a menu to add them to one of two new standardized lists — Close Friends and Acquaintances.

You can also use this feature while you post status updates by selecting close friends, which enable only your close friends to see the status update that you don't want your so-so friends to see.

The core idea behind Facebook’s enhanced lists is that you can share a status update with only a list of friends, rather than with all of your Facebook friends. Avoiding status updates that you don't care about. 

Hide friends from the public on facebook

You can change your friends list visibility as per your needs and you can hide it from public access by changing some settings.

Uncheck the “Show my friends on my profile” option in the Friends box on your profile, your Friend List won’t appear on your profile regardless of whether people are viewing it while logged into Facebook or logged out.

Know if your friends request has been ignored

When you select someone on Facebook you want to add as a friend.There is a options listed on the top of their profile page.

- Add as Friend



If you choose the Add as Friend option this person will become your friend after they confirm your request.  The person can also choose to ignore your request and not add you as a friend.

If you are not quickly added as a friend, how do you know if the person has ignored your request, or has not seen it or is contemplating a response?

After making the Add as Friend option, the option will change to:


Go back to the same profile again and check if it still says awaiting friend confirmation. You have not been ignored if it says the same.

If the person chooses to ignore your request, that option will again revert to
  – a live option you can click on.

This will confirm that you have been ignored.

Making another request after being ignored can get you reported to Facebook, but that is how you know if your friend request has been ignored or not. If you still see Awaiting friend confirmation the friend request is pending. If you have the option of adding the person as a friend you have unfortunately been ignored.

Unhide a Facebook Friend's News feeds

If you have clicked on the cross at your friend's news feed on facebook, You wont see their feeds and updates ever again. You have to unhide that friend's name from the Hidden from News Feed option, to see their feeds again.

To unhide your facebook friend follow these steps:

1. Click the News Feed link, which is usually on the top-left corner of the window:

2. Scroll the window down to the bottom of the webpage. Click the "Edit Options" link:

3. The “Hidden from News Feed” window will appear. Click the "Add to News Feed button" on the right of    the Facebook Friend you want to unhide:

You'll now be able to read to the news feeds from that contact again..

How to “Friend” Someone on Facebook & Hide It From Your Status Updates

On your Facebook home page, you should see the ‘Settings’ menu close to the search field on your upper-right. Open that menu and go to ‘Privacy Settings’.

On the next page, you’ll have four choices: Profile, Search, News Feed, and Applications. What you’ll want to edit here are your Profile privacy settings.

By default, everything on your profile is limited to your Friends and your Networks (your first Network is likely your city of residence, but you may have joined more). From the screenshot above, you can see that I’ve limited everything on my profile to my Friends and their Friends. Anyone else who visits my profile will only see that I have a profile, but will not see what’s on it.

In my example, you’re going to want to edit the setting on your Status Updates, since you don’t want your boss to know that you’ve “fanned” the competition. Click that dropdown menu and then select ‘Customize’.

You may want to tweak your overall privacy setting here, but what we’re aiming for is the “Except These People” list at the bottom of this dialog. Type out the name of any of your Friends to restrict that person from viewing anything in your Status Updates.
