If you want to stay away from facebook. You could either deactivate your account or permanently delete the account.
Deactivate Facebook Account:
If you deactivate your account, your profile and all the informations are inaccessible to other Facebook users. You will effectively disappear from the Facebook service. However, if you want to reactivate at some point, your account will look just the way it did when you deactivated.
To deactivate:
Click on the "Account Settings" tab in the "Home" dropdown menu.
On the Account Setting page - go to Security Options and Click on the last Option, "Deactive your Account"
Permanently Delete Facebook Account:
If you do not think you will use Facebook again and would like your account deleted. You are sure that you don't want to reactivate your account or retrieve any of the content or information you have added in future.
Go to:

Click "submit".
