Facebook Timeline

CEO Mark Zuckeberg showed off the new features " The Facebook Timeline" in his keynote at the company’s f8 conference. It algorithmically organizes everything you’ve done on Facebook. All the photos you've posted to the changes made in your relationship status, check in , apps and everything possible. Its basically a new type of Profile, that organizes everything you have done in Facebook Chronologically. It also allows users to fill out a “Way Back” section to add details that are omitted or occurred before the social network.

Facebook expects to roll out Timeline in a few weeks, but you can see what it looks like in the video above and also sign up for timeline right now. We’re also tracking Facebook’s announcements for any new updates.

To signup for timeline click on the image below:

Will Facebook Timeline Effect your privacy?
We’re all going to fall victim to these Facebook Timeline privacy concerns as we familiarize ourselves with the new feature.  Have no fear, it’s not like adding an app to your Timeline is irreversible, you can remove it at any time. Also note that when you add an app to your Timeline, you get the option to share your activity with “Public,” “Friends” or “Custom.” By clicking “Custom,” you get the option to hide your activity from everyone but yourself.

Facebook's Smart Lists : Status updates visible only to your Close friends!

This week Facebook brought new feature designed to make it easier to share posts with small groups of people by separating your best friends from your so called friends. Creating custom lists of Facebook friends was available since a long time, but now Facebook will automatically create a few lists based on your profile information. You can edit these lists and create new ones yourself. Facebook calls it a Smart List.

To see if you’ve got the smart lists yet, look on the left side of your Facebook profile page. You should see a section titled Lists:

When you look at a friend’s profile, there’ll be a button at the upper right that pops up a menu to add them to one of two new standardized lists — Close Friends and Acquaintances.

You can also use this feature while you post status updates by selecting close friends, which enable only your close friends to see the status update that you don't want your so-so friends to see.

The core idea behind Facebook’s enhanced lists is that you can share a status update with only a list of friends, rather than with all of your Facebook friends. Avoiding status updates that you don't care about.

Facebook Saves a Child's Life

Nicola Sharp, a 42-year-old nurse in England, was clicking through her friend Michelle Freeman's Facebook photos when an image of Michelle's daughter gave her reason to pause. In the photo, two-year-old Grace's eyes were lit up from the flash of the camera, but Sharp noticed that instead of the usual red-eye glint, one of the toddler's eyes was actually white.

Sharp, who has worked in pediatrics for decades, recognized immediately that the white reflection in Grace's eye could be sign of eye cancer. She immediately called Freeman about her suspicions. Little Grace was taken to the hospital where doctors found two tumors and diagnosed her with retinoblastoma.
The doctors also told Freeman that if the cancer had spread, it could have been fatal.
Freeman is grateful that her friend took the time to notice something odd in Grace's photo. "There is no doubt in my mind that Nicola saved Grace's life. There were no signs that Grace had any problems with her eyes and we never would have known without her," she said.
